Pretty Cry began in an ugly cry moment. In November 2022, founder Liz Smith sat with her 93-year-old grandmother — one of her closest friends — through her final days in hospice, going through box after box of tissues and rubbing flecks of cotton in and out of her eyes. She kept thinking about the vintage handkerchief she had tucked away and never used.
Pretty Cry makes soft, beautiful cotton handkerchiefs for women, manufactured in the United States. They are made for weddings, baby showers, graduations, funerals and hospital rooms — and for the ordinary Tuesday afternoons that turn out not to be ordinary.
A vintage handkerchief feel with a modern aesthetic. Reusable, so nothing ends up in the bin. A portion of proceeds will go to hospice charities.
